Friday, The Searchers kicks off a new series at BAMPFA, Landscapes of Myth: Westerns After The Searchers, programmed by Leila Weefur, Paul Schrader's latest, Oh, Canada, opens at the Roxie, the Smith Rafael's For Your Consideration series begins, presenting 15 Oscar-shortlisted features from around the world, the 2024 remake of 1987's Street Trash (repeats Saturday) is on 35mm at the Balboa, and Sabbath Queen director Sandi DuBowski is in person at the Roxie, and returns Saturday with film subject Rabbi Amichai Lau-Lavie.
Saturday, BAMPFA has Victor Erice's Close Your Eyes and 8 1/2 continues their Marcello Mastroianni Centenary series, Toy Story 3 (repeats Sunday) is at the Lark, the Niles screens Gregory La Cava's Feel My Pulse, the 4 Star has a Nic Cage/Paul Schrader double feature of Bringing Out the Dead and Dark plus their Popcorn Palace selections this week are The Red Balloon and a Pixar Shorts Collection, and the Roxie one last shot gives you another iteration of ENO to catch, plus director Taghi Amirani and legendary editor Walter Murch are in person to present their new film, COUP 53.
