Screen Slate has once again invited Nicolas Rapold to guest edit its fourth annual Best Movies of the Year poll, as voted on by our own contributors along with filmmakers, critics, performers, programmers, cinema workers, community organizers, and other friends.
We also continued our tradition of encouraging respondents to submit their favorite new-to-me First Viewings and Discoveries, which are viewable alongside individual New Film ballots if submitted. Some of the people we heard from include Isabelle Huppert, Mets director John DeMarsico, Wim Wenders, Frederick Wiseman, Illeana Douglas, Paul Schrader, Isabel Sandoval, John Wilson, Ira Sachs, Claire Simon, Daniel Goldhaber, and May December screenwriter Samy Burch.
