"In the month of June, Based In will screen a 70's film every other Wednesday. Each film will be introduced by writer and film critic, Carlos Valladares.
"Carlos Valladares is a writer, critic, film curator, programmer, and video essayist from South Central Los Angeles, California.
"He began his PhD in History of Art and Film & Media Studies at Yale University in fall 2019; he received his master's from Yale in December 2021and has written for the San Francisco Chronicle, Film Comment, MUBI, the Criterion Collection, Frieze, and Gagosian Quarterly; for the last of these, he writes a regular column on the world of film.
He is currently drafting several films, including a docufiction on the life of fashion photographer and director Jerry Schatzberg."
