Big & Loud! 2024

For a second year, the Paris Theater is bringing a visual and sonic feast to New York City with

BIG & LOUD

a series of cinema’s most unforgettable sensory experiences featuring a jam-packed lineup of 70mm, Dolby Atmos, and audio-obsessive cinema.

The series - which will play over five weeks across August, September, and October - originally debuted in 2023 upon the historic Paris Theater’s reopening to showcase its state-of-the-art technical upgrades, including a newly installed Dolby Atmos sound system and the technology to screen 70mm for the first time in fifteen years. With over 500 seats, Manhattan’s last remaining single screen theater also became its largest Atmos cinema.

All that technical firepower is a recipe for a cinephile’s dream, with the ability to fully immerse the viewer in the world onscreen, and the films in this year’s lineup more than deliver on that promise. Foremost among the series’ unmissable events: Big & Loud opens with the New York premiere of a brand new 70mm print of Alfred Hitchcock’s Vertigo, regularly voted one of the greatest films ever made.

Newly struck 70mm prints of Hitchcock’s North By Northwest and John Ford’s The Searchers will also feature in Big & Loud; those films (along with Vertigo) were shot in VistaVision, the 1950s high-resolution widescreen format, but now both are being presented in 70mm for the first time. Many more 70mm classics, as well as films outfitted with the thrilling soundscapes of a Dolby Atmos mix, special in-person filmmaker appearances, and more surprises are in store across the full Big & Loud lineup.
