For more than a decade, Iranian filmmaker Shahram Mokri has made fascinating dramas and thrillers steeped in Iranian history. Known for his visually intricate films and unconventional timelines, his films mix “formal experimentation with a sly sense of humor and a surprising feeling for American genre conventions” (Variety). BAM presents the New York premiere of Mokri’s latest film: Careless Crime, a mysterious puzzle box, equal parts Abbas Kiarostami and Chris Marker.
