Feelings and Fantasy: The Adam Project and Shawn Levy's Film Inspirations

Series Site

In Shawn Levy’s new science-fiction family adventure The Adam Project, a time-traveling fighter pilot teams up with his 12-year-old self to try to save the future. Tapping into our deepest emotions while also giving us a purely cinematic spectacle, Levy was drawing on the sci-fi movies he grew up with, films in which he found “resonant emotional ideas along with those elements of spectacle. These movies were escapist and fun, and also human and warm-hearted.” Levy, whose many credits as director and producer include the Night at the Museum series and Stranger Things, has selected three of his favorite 1980s movies for this series, which concludes with a special preview screening of The Adam Project.
