Theatrical moviegoing, like people getting together for a party, is a shared social experience, a chance for a bunch of friends and strangers to get together and, in the best-case scenario, ride on the same vibe together. There’s been little of either happening for some time now, so we’re celebrating the return of the big-screen at Metrograph with some of our favorite cinematic celebrations, which include the kind of parties you never want to end (Project X, House Party), the kind that literally won’t end (The Exterminating Angel), and the kind that symbolize the slow passing into history of the Sicilian aristocracy (The Leopard).
