Horror Remakes 2000 at Nitehawk Cinema

Series Site

Revisiting scary movies from the first decade of the new millennium.

Some horror classics seem so sacred, when a remake is released the first reaction is to trash them. But with a little distance it is easy to see their merits, which inevitably also carry a tinge of commentary on the time they were made. For this series we focus on the first decade of the 2000s, a time replete with retellings of cherished horror movies, with several directorial debuts including Zack Snyder’s DAWN OF THE DEAD. Often with goopy effects (both practical and digital), these are some nasty, ultra-violent movies.
