Cedric Nicolas-Troyan’s new film Kate, starring Mary Eilzabeth Winstead, is a noir-flavored action thriller that draws on the cinematic traditions of great action movies of the past, including many with female protagonists. To accompany the premiere theatrical engagement at the Paris Theater, Nicolas-Troyan and Winstead have selected some of their key influences, from Akira Kurosawa’s Ikiru to Steven Soderbergh’s The Limey, with actresses including Sigourney Weaver (Alien), Gena Rowlands (Gloria), and Natalie Portman (Léon: The Professional).
