Kirsten Dunst has been such a reliably compelling and versatile actress since her stunningly good performance (at the age of twelve) in Interview with the Vampire that it is easy to take her work for granted. She seemed to grow up before our eyes, in popular teen comedies, big Hollywood hits, and refined arthouse films. Her performance in Jane Campion’s The Power of the Dog as Rose, a woman who tries to preserve order amidst the hypercharged tension and power struggle between the three male characters, has been widely praised. This series gives us a chance to appreciate her remarkable career, and the incredible performances she has given in films by directors including her frequent collaborator Sofia Coppola, Neil Jordan, and Lars Von Trier.
