Lynchian

Fractured psyches. A creeping sense of the uncanny. Doubles. It’s hard to define, but you know it when you see it: the surrealist, blackly comic, unnerving world of David Lynch. In honor of the 30th anniversary of Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me (once derided, but now acknowledged as one of Lynch’s supreme masterpieces), we plumb the depths of Lynchian style. Looking both at fellow travelers who pull from similar visual and spiritual motifs and at multiple generations of filmmakers directly influenced by Lynch’s work—plus his own seminal films such as Eraserhead, Blue Velvet, and Mulholland Drive—this international series celebrates the unique space opened up by the work of this eccentric and beloved American master.
