A dynamic performer from the jump, River Phoenix was immediately magnetic on screen. As a teenager he became iconic in two generation-defining films, EXPLORERS and STAND BY ME, then continued to show his great depths in RUNNING ON EMPTY (which earned him his one Oscar nomination) and MY OWN PRIVATE IDAHO.
We pay tribute to him with this series on the 30th anniversary of his tragic death at the age of 23.
