Each fall we're pleased to offer Screen Slate writers' takes on many of the noteworthy films in the New York Film Festival line-up—an annual chance to pipe up on mainstream arthouse releases that we otherwise leave for the Tomatometer-approved critical masses to hash out.
We begin this year's coverage with capsules of Agnès Varda's Faces Places, Sean Baker's The Florida Project, Richard Linklater's Last Flag Flying, Dee Rees's Mudbound, Aki Kaurismäki's The Other Side of Hope, Robin Campillo's BPM, Hong Sang-soo's The Day After, Serge Bozon's Mrs. Hyde, and Valeska Grisebach's Western. Our team of writers includes Cosmo Bjorkenheim, Chloe Lizotte, John Magary, Dylan Pasture, and Vanessa McDonnell. We'll be updating through the festival, so be sure to check back, and we'll keep you posted with additions in the daily email and on social media. Read here.
