Monday, if you wanted to catch indie darling Janet Planet, it plays at the New Parkway (repeats Wednesday) or for one more matinee at the LarkDune (1984) and The Wizard of Oz are at the Drafthouse New Mission, a Dennis Hopper double of Easy Rider and Out of the Blue is at the 4 Star, the Powell & Pressburger series continues with the new doc followed by The Red Shoes at the Roxie, where French vampire oddity The Vourdalak also continues this week, while Pom Poko is at the Lark and Force Majeure is at the Balboa. TuesdayUHF is at the Balboa, Battle Royale at the Drafthouse, The Man from Hong Kong at the 4 Star, and Powell & Pressburger's A Matter Of Life And Death at the Roxie. Wednesday, the Odyssey Film Institute presents Apollo 13 (on 35mm) at the Balboa, The Brother from Another Planet and Suburbia (Penelope Spheeris's, not Richard Linklater's) are at the Drafthouse, a doc double feature about the SF housing crisis followed by a discussion is at the Roxie, A Quiet Place in the Country is at BAMPFA, The Line-Up (repeats Thursday) is at the Vogue, American Graffiti (repeats Saturday and Sunday) at the 4 Star, and Enter the Dragon at the New Parkway. ThursdsayCuckoo is on 35mm at Drafthouse for one night only, Stanley Kubrick's The Killing continues BAMPFA's noir classics series, this week's Stanford double feature is The Reluctant Debutante and Gigi (on 35mm, repeats through Sunday), the Balboa has Atomic Gods: Creations Myths of the Bomb with the director in person, the 4 Star has William S. Hart's silent western The Return of Draw Egan with a live score composed by Ennio Morricone (note: it sounds like title cards have been rewritten for the lulz, so earnest Hart fans, be prepared), and the Rialtos Elmwood and Cerrito have free matinees of The Umbrellas of Cherbourg.
