Screen Slate San Francisco Bay

Screen Slate SF Bay
July 12th 2023

We’re thrilled to announce that after more than 12 years of daily film listings and criticism in NYC, Screen Slate is expanding to the West Coast. Later this summer we’re launching Screen Slate San Francisco Bay.

The expansion came about through talks with our friends behind the listing website SF Bay Film, who are coming on board to run Screen Slate’s first West Coast chapter. People near the Bay Area who visit screenslate.com will see complete listings for venues like the Roxie, BAMPFA, ATA, Alamo New Mission, the Balboa, and more. SSSF will have a weekly newsletter, which you can already sign up for in advance.

In recent years Screen Slate’s editorial has grown in scope with interviews, essays, scene reports, and a podcast, and our international pool of writers already includes several in the Bay Area. Our editorial operation will continue out of NYC while covering local film culture and highlighting unique screenings on both coasts.

This is a major milestone for Screen Slate, which remains a DIY operation run by a dedicated team of moving-image culture enthusiasts. We continue to be predominantly reader-funded, so if you want to support our work, consider becoming a Patreon member.

We also hope SSSF will be a model for other cities, so if you want to talk about bringing Screen Slate to your neighborhood, get in touch!
